A Trip To The Park

Mondays are always the day that we go to the library. Sydnee has really caught the reading bug! I think she checked out 27 books. Christian is listening to books on CD. Right now, he is listening to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. After the library, I told my kids we could go to the park if they would endure a trip to the grocery store. When we got to the park, two families from school were there! They played for over two hours. The weather is perfect for the park. It is not even over 80 degrees. I don't have any photos because I am 'in between cameras' right now. Craig took mine to use at work and I get to buy a new one! The digital SLR is over budget, do you have any other suggestions????

  1. go to DPReview.com before you buy anything... you get the sites reviews, but also user reviews...

I would say, if not a Sony or Canon P&S, dive in and get a lower $ model of a SLR... You might just be happy with the decision... tiny P&S still have limitations, and you can't really "go anywhere" with them... what you get is what ya got... with an SLR, you can always get a better lens, etc...

    Good luck! :)

The Canon XT and XTi just went down in $ since the new version was released...

His wife has the Cannon Digital SLR and loves it, but really recommended the camera she bought for her husand if you didn't want to got he SLR route. Way to go-new camera!!!

Can you email me your address? Joseph wants to invite Christian to his birthday party.

  6. I have a Canon SX100. In addition, I do love picnik! This camera has a nice optical zoom which lets me get in close. It also has a nice feature for indoor lighting. I haven't figured everything else out yet. The only negative is the flash takes way too long to recharge, but I don't need it too often.

  7. I was in the same camera situation last fall--wanting an SLR, but not quite able to make the $$$ jump. I ended up with a Canon Powershot A570 IS (Image Stabilization) for about $200. It's come down since. I've been really happy with Canon point-and-shoots, but I still wish I had spent the $200 and more on an SLR. Next time I'm gonna bite the bullet and do it, even if it has to be birthday, Mother's Day, and Christmas!

  8. If there's any way you can swing it, spend the extra and get a digital SLR. It's a night and day difference with flexibility, shutter speeds, etc. The only thing is, the digital SLRs are much more bulky and heavy. The ideal is to get a nice little one to throw in your bag and take anywhere and have a digital SLR for when you don't have to carry it all day. In the past, I bought Olympus--liked their film cameras. Then I switched to Canon and have bought three of them. Can't go wrong with anything Canon. You're welcome to experiment with mine if you want to. I also have a little Sony that I carry with me almost everywhere. Love the size and quality of the pictures for such a small piece of equipment.
