Turkey Notes

Turkey red
Turkey grey
Turkey says,
have a happy day!
{Written by a 1st grade student with one loose tooth...who also made the turkey above...}
Turkey Notes are a local Thanksgiving tradition. They are said to date back to about 1890 (though this cannot be confirmed), and are considered to be strictly a local custom.
A Turkey Note is a short, three- or four-line poem, using “Turkey” as the first word of the first two lines. Purists use colors for the second word of these first lines, but this is not strictly necessary. The poem can be a compliment, an insult, or just funny (depending, of course, on your sense of humor)...
Happy Thanksgiving!

Be Warm: Inside and Out

Today I felt the warmth of friendship.
Reconnecting with a friend...
Feeling a friend's joy through the phone...
Celebrating with friends...
Laughing with friends...
And a friend knowing you and loving you unconditionally....

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity.... It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.

Flashback Friday

These pics come from a few months ago when we were on our Cruise. It was the last formal night, and we had planned a 80's Prom Night. Everyone looked great! I know the pictures are a little blurry, and not the greatest....but you get the idea. This was not the theme for the ENTIRE cruise, just for our group. It was so much fun to have people come up to us and ask who was getting married, really, is this what a cruise wedding looks like?

Ramblings....

Here are a few projects that I have been working on lately....
Remember the Halloween Book from the Freaky Fun Foldin' class? Here is the Christmas version...
This was a layout I made for the owner of Rusty Pickle's baby shower that we had at the Rusty Pickle retreat.....the Rusty Pickle retreat??? Yes, I know I haven't told you about that yet.....soon, promise.

This is my FIRST HYBRID PROJECT! Hybrid? Digital and Paper Scrappin' Love together....digital elements are from Heidi Swapp and they are FREE....go there and make a gratitude journal: perfect for this time of year! Happy Friday! Off to the grocery store...

This one is for you, Big Sis...

Back in August, my sister came to visit me. While she was here, she cut and colored my hair. She also issued me a challenge. She told me that I needed to flatiron my hair every three days. It was hard at first, I was not good with even the round brush and a blowdryer! But today I did it in 20 minutes and I think it looks pretty good. I think I am getting better at the flatiron, especially since my girls' also have hairstyles that need to be 'done' everyday....So my 'big sis' has never seen pictures of my hairstyle by me! The third picture I took myself, the others were taken by the lil' photog.....enjoy!

Snippets

There is a new book that is coming out soon about my favorite subject: scrapbooking. It is not your ordinary idea book, it is a collection of short stories written by a gal that I met at CHA and have been following her blog for several years, Lain Ehmann. She is very funny and makes me laugh; she also has a great outlook on scrapbooking and how to keep it simple. You can check out the sneak peek and pre-order the book. I am hoping to find this in my stocking this year. Add it to your list....
