Never Enough Time With You....

Here is the layout I taught for the Favorite Things Crop yesterday. I think that it was well received. The croppers also loved the Chickn' Feed that was given as my new favorite embellishment! Many people loved looking through all the treasures in their takeout box. There were also croppers that took this layout and it jump started other layout creations throughout the crop. That really made me smile. I love sharing.
Sharing embellishments, sharing tools, sharing ideas....croppers are really good at sharing!
I know that is a lesson that I learned many years ago {in Kindergarten} and I have never forgotten it. Sharing.
I had a great time at the crop. Saw some old friends and made some new ones! I took Amy with me on Friday night {after a trip to the junk store *wink*}. It was so fun to introduce her to so many peeps that share the love of paper and a love of life! More pictures to come.....

more from my paper life

OK...these 3 canvas projects have been sitting in my basement unfinished for months and months.....I hadn't created anything for some time and needed to get back in the groove....so this was my quick project.
Something fast....something fun....something DONE!
In just a short 30 minutes I had these canvas covered and added the quote {from studio calico inspiration}
I love them and will display them in my daughter's room. I then went on to create two layouts {my dad is rad & pre-summer splash}and was happy with my mojo returning! Sometimes it is hard to create when you have deadlines and projects that NEED to be finished....and the artist in you just wants to get messy and have fun.

These two layouts were from Scrapaganza's Monthly Kit Club. They are made with Jillibean Soup paper and embellies! I am excited to teach at their Favorite Things crop this weekend and see many creative friends!
Amy from the Paperlife has another post up with some of these creations for your weekend inspiration and you can still get in on the prizes over there!

weekend project: organization

{photo from Real Simple}
Organizing. This word scares me. I really do try to be organized; but since I have added little ones to the mix, it is hard. Things just don't stay where I put them. I am not making any excuses here because the project that I am trying to tackle has really nothing to do with the kids. I made this mess all on my own. We have a soccer tournament this weekend, but I am hoping that I will be able to get a handle on my mess and it will help to straighten what is going on inside my head too.

{world cup celebration!

Had a chance to take some pictures on Saturday before the big game: England vs. USA. Then the rain came and we were pretty busy....and guess what? No pictures of Christian or his soccer team. I think they had a great time and after the rain, the backyard was perfect for mud soccer and mud volleyball. I should have sent each boy home with a bottle of Stain Remover! The next few weeks are going to be fun watching soccer, soccer, soccer! Yay for the World Cup!
For these fun decorations I used:
Patterned paper: Reminisce, Bo Bunny
Stickers: Reminisce
Chipboard letters: Rusty Pickle
Paint: Advantus

junk store adventures

Recently I took a trip to a new junk store and snapped some pictures. Junk Asylum: check it out soon!
An original 'scrap'book! Stacks & stacks of these books from all different years...pages and pages of magazine clippings glued onto contruction paper....{loved this page with all the chairs}
This type of scrapbook was filled with different ads, trends, epherma, etc. during a certain year. {No actual photographs} So fun to flip through!

LOVED THIS CORNER OF THE STORE....I just stood and smiled....such a beautiful, inspirational display.
Need more time! {and $$ to shop!}

Cameras, cameras, cameras....I want a collection of old cameras. I just need a place for them.

{comings & goings....

May! Wow..it just flew by. Here are a few things that happened during the month:
Father & Sons Outing....Christian has a great time at scouts each week and in the beginning of May they held the Father & Sons. Here he is with his friend during the camp out. They have been friends for several years and he is moving in July. We are going to miss their entire family!

We also had a preschool graduation! Chatterbox Preschool has been our preschool for 3 years! Sydnee went there and Ella was there for 2 years. We love this school! They had their graduation and performed several songs. Ella was very excited to sing and she sang so loud that she almost passed out. I have some video documentation of this and need to post...it was comical. When the program ended, I asked Ella why she was screaming while she was singing and she said that her teacher told them they needed to sing really loud! Wow I wonder where she gets her loud voice from? Hmmm....

The day before preschool graduation, Ella and I went on a field trip to the Quad City Botanical Garden. This was our first time there and we loved it! They learned all about gardening and different plants that are interesting to all of our senses. It was a little bit cold, but was fun. Ella's favorite part was the pond with all the fish and touching the plant with the leaves that move!

Christian had his spring piano recital in the beginning of May. He loves piano, but hates practicing. He is really growing in his talent and has started to play popular songs. For the recital he played Hedwig's Theme from Harry Potter. He also played Spring from the Four Seasons by Vivaldi. His teacher picked a classical piece for each student.
I still need to post about the end-of-school activities {5th grade day & recognition, last day of school, etc.} and what plans we have for the summer. Be back soon!

The Story Matters Blog Hop!

Yay! The Story Matters June Kit reveal day is here! And to celebrate we are having a blog hop! You are going to love this month's kit. It is called {a bend in the road} and has some yummy papers and embellishments!

 Here are the projects that I created with this month's kit:
{Recognize this sketch? It was the challenge sketch for May. Better late than never is my motto!}

{I love all the patterned papers in this kit...so the best way that I know how to use lots of yummy patterns so they flow together is through a grid. Easy Peasy!}

{This is my 'story' layout. I love that this journaling is fantasy, something that I wish for, but is not a part of my life right now. I know you are all sick of seeing pictures from this weekend, but I love them! The journaling reads:

In my world we would be next-door neighbors and our kids would go to the same school. We would take family vacations together or send our boys to scout camp all in the same week. We would head over to the movie theater once a week after the kids are in bed. Our husbands would take us on date nights...we would laugh all the time & be close, close.
{ This was my extra credit layout. I used a few embellies that were not in the kit....but one thing that I used from the kit that was fabulous was the backing from my Pink Paislee rub-ons...see it? It is the paper ruffle you see going up the left side of the photo. I sprayed it with my favorite Pearl Glimmer Mist and scrunched it up! This lovely couple is my brother-in-law & sister-in-law in London this spring. TFL! }

First Friday Leftovers

Have you ever made a 6x12 layout? I just made these two....they are my first ever...and I really LOVE them. I made them with some leftovers from my Scrapbook Chicks Kit!
They are also having a fabulous sale there today! It is their First Friday {plus Saturday & Sunday} sale!
These pictures were from the week before school ended. It was 94+ degrees outside and the girls wanted to waterslide! I am glad that I gave in and let them drag it out because the next day it rained and rained. Summer storms in Iowa, got to love them! I am very excited for summer! Today is the first day for my kids and we are off to the pool {indoor, it is raining}! Have a great Friday!

Go Carts!

I just ordered 800 pictures! Whoa, I better get scrappin.....
I had a bit of stuff left from the May kit from The Story Matters so I whipped up this little layout.
Last Friday was the oldest's Fifth Grade Day! They went bowling and then to Michael's Fun World. He loved the go carts. I loved watching and observing him throughout the day with his friends. He really enjoys being with them! He has a great group of friends. I really can't believe he is going to middle school. Wow. I am not going to think about it much, just enjoy him and his moods this summer!

Last Day of School

We had a little bit of fun creating Sydnee's last day of school outfit! We took a pair of pajama pants and cut them to shorts and used the extra bits of fabric to decorate her sleeves and pony tails. It was fun and she loved it!

I also like to have a special treat for the kids when they get home from the last day of school. It is usually something that says:
WE ARE READY FOR SUMMER!
I found some great reusable waterbottles and I cut their names out of vinyl {from Making Memories}on the Cricut Machine. This is my first experience with vinyl and the Cricut, and it worked perfectly! The kids loved it...
