{gritty crochet flowers...
Look at these crocheted headbands! Aren't they so cute?????
My friend makes them and they make winter look fabulous
This is my friend who is selling these crocheted headbands. I have this one also...but loved her picture...so there you are.
I wore this the day after I got it in the mail! But my picture....not as cute as you see here. {But it made me feel sassy as I was walking through Target doing my grocery shopping.}
**Snapped these pictures just right before she headed out the door to preschool!
Go here to see all the styles she makes....i now need another order of skinny bands since spring is just around the corner...right??? right???
{Wednesday & Yesterday were ice days...kids home...can you say cabin fever!!}

{snow day art...
Last week, Sydnee had to take a bunch of small items to decorate a snowman at school. We collected popcorn seeds, noodles, cotton balls, qtips, buttons, ribbon, and all things crafty from my stash. When the project was finished, she brought the extras home. Well, the next 2 days of school were snow {ice} days. So this bag of extra stuff became her tools for creation! I am not sure what book they read at school to spark the ideas for creating their snowmen, but this is the book that I thought of. I love the photographs & pictures...they are 'real' items....so much fun for creativity! Anywho....here are the creations from the post-school project:

Button Crazy {I love seeing her name written in cursive}

**For those who are wondering what to do with the piles of art creations that you just can't throw away....take pictures of them....then throw them away {but do this when the kids are at school and you can take the garbage out immediately.} Then create a book by printing the pictures and putting them in the photo album or create a book on Shutterfly. This is of course on my mile long to-do list...

cooking & baking...
When my sister was here over Christmas, we did lots of cooking & baking. {Probably more than she has done in a long time...hahaha!} We were so proud of ourselves because we made sugar cookies & frosting from scratch! No frosting from a can! And it was so good...we couldn't get over how yummy the cookies & frosting were...and we made them!
The kiddos loved rolling out the dough over and over again. And adding lots of flour to the table, rolling pin, cookie sheets, floor, we had flour everywhere!
Here are the recipes:
Sugar Cookies by Jaime Snarr
3 1/4 flour
1 tsp. soda
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sour cream
Mix wet ingredients then add dry. Roll to 1/4 inch thick. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 mins.
Buttercream Frosting {author unknown}
2 sticks of butter
4 cups powder sugar
1 Tbsp. pure vanilla
2 Tbsp. milk
pinch of salt
Thanks to my friend, she hooked us up with a fabulous sugar cookie recipe because I had misplaced my favorite sugar cookie recipe and I just couldn't call my friend with the no-fail sugar cookie recipe because she lives in Japan now....but that is another story.
Here is her recipe now that I have it again { and hopefully won't lose it}. It is a keeper too!
No-Fail Sugar Cookies by Kim Nelson
1 cup sugar
1 cup margarine {I use butter}
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 cup flour
3 tsp. baking powder
Mix wet and then dry ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Enjoy!

Christmas Break
We had a great time....really it was bliss, crazy bliss!
My sister, her hubby, and 4 kids were here in IOWA with us for 12 days!
There were 7 dwarfs {as Craig called them} in our house .
We had lots and lots of fun, and made tons and tons of memories.
We also took a total of 767 pictures.
Here are just a few of the highlights:
Chi-town!
